Interesting (and a little sad) website about China adoption

FOREWARNING: I'm stuck on the sofa laying on a heating pad with a laptop. I could be dangerous with a computer right now! I'm hosting a holiday baking marathon today. And my back in on the fritz. Dang it. I had problems with my sciatic nerve earlier this fall, did some drugs, PT and exercises to get back on the mend. I think I've overdone it a bit (and been too lax on the stretching exercises) and it's come back to bite me in the butt...literally. I sent Perry and the kids off to church so I could just lay on the heating pad to try and loosen things up a bit. I'm having a hard time just sitting here knowing I have so much to do...so I'm trying to catch up on a few things on the computer.

Back to the post title!

I found this website today: China Adoption Forecast

I haven't taken the time to fully explore it, but I did notice they are advising families AGAINST adopting from China because if you started the process today, you should expect to wait SEVEN years to bring home your baby.

I knew the wait was getting long but had no idea it would get that bad. Wow. Again, I'm not up on why this is happening. But it is sad. Our adoption experience was one of the most rewarding experiences of our life.

I'm often asked questions by others who are interested in adopting. It's sad to know that China is no longer a viable option for many families. It took us 4 years to get pregnant with Carson and 2 years to adopt Elise so we've experienced some long-ish waits ourselves. But we wouldn't have knowingly entered a process where we knew it would be a 7 year wait.

I hope the situation improves. Sadly, there are so many children (China and elsewhere) that need forever homes. I know those families who truly have a heart for adoption and find the door to China closing to them will look elsewhere for their children. But, my heart breaks for the orphans in China who may never know a forever family.

Yikes! When we were waiting, ours was the longest wait time in the history of IA. I can't believe how long it's taking now.

Indeed, it is a sad state of affairs.

Wow - how sad. . . so many children will suffer from this.
